
The Computer Education & Training Center offers nine Chancellor’s Certificates to provide you with the technical knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience to increase your value to your organization and to enhance your professional development. You can earn credentials for proof of a concentrated study, explore a career or career change, or update and strengthen your current computing knowledge and skills.
As an employee, earning one of our specialized certificates can show employers your desire to enhance job skills and productivity. You learn the specific computer skills you need and earn a Chancellor’s certificate to show your achievements. A specialized certificate can also be your reward for pursuing a challenging area of computer study.
As an employer, you need to depend on the quality of your staff’s computer training. We have established standards, including time limits and course requirements, to ensure the certificates your employees earn are current, meaningful, and valuable to your organization.
- Chancellor’s Certificate in Web Page Design provides you with the tools you need to design, develop, and maintain attractive and effective Web pages.
- Chancellor’s Certificate in Web Scripting and Interactivity is for Web designers, technical managers, developers, and authors who want to add interactivity to their Web sites to gather information and heighten the user experience.
- Chancellor’s Certificate in Web Programming and Databases provides you with the tools you need to design, install, and maintain Web-based applications.
- Chancellor’s Certificate in Electronic Art and Publishing is for designers, editors, desktop publishers, and others responsible for producing layout and artwork for distribution through a conventional printing process or electronically via the Web.
- Chancellor’s Certificate in Digital Graphics is for traditional designers who are going digital, as well as those with experience working in a digital environment, including graphic designers, illustrators, desktop publishers, Web designers, and photographers.
- Chancellor’s Certificate in Database Technology provides you with an understanding of database technology and database design, development, and implementation.
- Chancellor’s Certificate in Business Applications helps develop computer skills and proficiency in a variety of software applications that are essential for success in today’s office environment.
- Chancellor’s Certificate in Programming teaches you fundamental programming concepts and how they apply to procedural and object-oriented languages, as well as the standard techniques and programming logic that will help you solve practical problems.
- Chancellor's Certificate in Excel provides expertise in one of the world’s most widely used software applications. Its ability to create simple spreadsheets, combined with powerful automation, graphing, and data manipulation features, make Excel an essential business tool that can be used at a variety of skill levels.
- Chancellor's Certificate in SharePoint provides expertise that will give you the ability to work in a collaborative environment. This technology creates a Web-based environment, giving access to documents, ideas, important links, and communications.
We also offer a Chancellor’s Certificate on the Computer for 96 hours of classroom work.
Certificate Requirements
All classes must be completed through the University of Missouri-St. Louis Computer Education & Training Center within 24 months of submitting the application. If you have completed one or more of these classes through the Computer Education & Training Center in the 24 months prior to completing your application, they may be applied to this certificate. Granting approval for these classes depends on verification of satisfactory completion of each class.
General Information
- Only the courses listed here will be accepted toward this certificate.
- You are required to complete any prerequisites listed for certificate classes. These classes will not count toward the hours required to complete the certificate. Be sure to check the course descriptions in the Computer Education & Training Center catalog or on the Web at www.cetc.umsl.edu for prerequisites.
- A class can be applied to only one specialized certificate.
- You do not have to be enrolled in the Certificate program to take these classes.
- Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis; submitting your application or paying the fee does not guarantee a seat in any class. Please plan to register early.
- You will receive CEUs for successful completion of each certificate class and will earn at least 3.6 CEUs when you complete this certificate. The hours you complete in these classes will also be applied toward the 96-hour Chancellor’s Certificate on the Computer.
- Due to the rapid and ongoing changes that occur in software development, the Computer Education & Training Center cannot guarantee which versions or which software will be offered. Classes are reviewed periodically; new classes may be added and others may be dropped. Be sure to check the current Computer Education & Training Center catalog or our Web site for the most current course listings.
How to Enroll and Obtain Your Certificate
Complete the application form and return it with your $25 nonrefundable fee to the address indicated. This fee covers processing, recordkeeping, and certificate costs. After the application form and fee are processed, we will send you a confirmation letter and Notification of Completion form. Use this form to keep track of classes you’re taking toward your certificate. When you complete your last class, return the Notification form by mail or FAX. We will verify successful completion of all requirements and send you your certificate.
