TCH ED 6444 Environmental Education (3 credit hours)
Get to know Forest Park in ways that few ever do. Learn and practice experiential techniques for teaching in the park. Collaboratively taught by UMSL, Forest Park Forever, Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri History Museum, Missouri Botanical Garden, Saint Louis Art Museum, Saint Louis Zoo, and Saint Louis Science Center. EDUC 5006 Big River Ecology (workshop—1 credit hour, optional)
Includes two full-day field trips to explore the confluence area of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, including historical and economic importance, floods, floodplains, wetland, and recreation issues.
EDUC 5006 Teaching in the Outdoors (workshop—1 credit hour, optional)
Explore and practice environmental education approaches to fish, forest, and wildlife conservation based on the award-winning Projects WET, Wild, and Learning Tree activities. Activity books and certification are included.
Special Problem/Internship
A special problem class or internship with variable credit can be arranged for supervised interpretive experience in experiential education instruction.
